Kovilmukku Narayan Achari was the team leader of constructing Great Karichal Chundan. Changankeri Govindan Achari and Thankappan Achari were his right hand for the construction. The responsibility for providing suitable Anjili wood was given to Pattathil Vasupillai and Kadoor Mekkathil Kesavan Achari. They traveled so many places for Aanjili Wood and finally collected the suitable Aanjali Wood from Eerattupetta. In 1987 The Karichal chundan is reconstructed by

Uma Maheshwaran ( Son of Kovil Mukku Narayanan Achari ). Another reconstructions were at 1994 by Goplakrishnan Achari ( Brother of Narayanan Achari) and 1997,2008 by Changankari Venu Achary.The great Karichal chundan is constructed with 53.25 koal long and 51 angulam by breadth. Karuchal won Nehru Trophy in 1973(mutual winner with Kallupprampan ), 1974, 75, 76, 80, 82, 83, 84, 86, 87, 2000, 01, 03 and in 2008(13 times).
